Proud alumnus of the UNC School of the Arts.
You can read my resume below for a detailed description of my skills and experience. Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:
After spending three years in Austin flying drones and working as a freelance immersive media producer, I moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with my fiancée at the end of 2023. It’s a great town with a lot of charm and talent.
I’m a burgeoning entrepreneur. It doesn’t come naturally to me, but I think the best way for me to do some good in this world is to run an honorable enterprise that helps people. I use VR technology to record peoples’ life stories so that their family can pass down their legacy. Remember that scene from Harry Potter when he’s standing in front of his parents in the magic mirror? Or that other one from Iron Man where he watches a message from his deceased father? It’s like that. You can learn more at livingmemoryxr.com.
Right now, I’m particularly interested in the how machine learning will speed up the creation of photorealistic, volumetric media using 2D images and video. Gracia is doing interesting work. Radiancefields.com has been a great resource for learning more about exciting new methods like Neural Radiance Fields (“NeRF”s) and Gaussian Splatting.
As a cinematographer by training, I’m sensitive to the fact that our culture runs on images. I’m interested in responsible practices for image-making in virtual and real worlds alike. I believe that an experience can be a powerful work of art and a socially constructive tool, maybe even powerful enough to get us closer to a just, peaceful world.
As a Southerner, I’m always looking out for ideas about how to preserve what’s good about the South while healing everything else. Consider subscribing to The Bitter Southerner, especially if you’re a southerner like me who’s ready for new ideas about what we’re all about.
I love every moment I get to spend in a museum, having most recently visited Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Museum of Art. I also love to cook, and I’ve got a secret recipe for authentic Southern buttermilk biscuits. Every now and then, I’ve been known to dance.
